Here's More About It:
This CRF has been adult ridden and owned for over 12 years. This UNICAM engine has stainless exhaust headpipe, service to top end included new piston and rings, change to steel intake valves, gaskets etc. Always professionally maintained at KTM of Aspen- receipts for work, tires are 85% very good condition, clean plastic, no rips or tears in seat, always garaged. The X model denotes heavier flywheel for trail riding NOT motocross, lighting coil for headlamp and tailight, cam for more torque at lower rpm. This IS NOT the R race model. They make for great lightweight and comfortable trailbikes but still with plush, long travel suspension: 12.4 inches travel front and rear. Options are MSR mirror and front fender bag w/spare tube, ELINE carbon fiber skid plate, ACERBIS handguards and aluminum chain guard and aluminum radiator guards. For those unfamiliar these aluminum framed bikes are lightweight, good handling and powerful bikes, with XLNT suspension, electric starting and full lighting. It is titled and tagged in Colorado. They have changed little over the years due to their xlnt design. Recent service last summer, all fluids, valve adjustment, carb and filter cleaned, new brake pads front and rear etc. Chain and sprockets in very good condition. New Deltran (Battery Tender) lightweight Lithium battery installed last summer. Do not have owners manual but comes with a Clymer Service Manual which has all specifications for service. Can help with delivery up to 250 miles from Pagosa Springs, CO for gas money. The following is copied from Honda's press release when they were introduced in 2004:CRF250X Development Check out the new 2004 Honda CRF250X, and your eyes quickly detect all the fundamental genomes shared by the 250X and Honda’s spectacular 2004 CRF250R motocross machine: Fourth-generation aluminum frame, ultra-trick four-valve 249cc Unicam® engine, 47mm Showa twin-chamber fork and Pro-Link single-shock rear suspension with a racing-style aluminum swingarm, dual disc brakes, even an aluminum Renthal handlebar—it’s all there. Call the two bikes fraternal twins and you’ll be right on the money. But understand that when you’re developing a world-class high-performance off-road bike, beginning with a world-class motocross machine merely makes for a good starting point—with much more work still to be done. After all, motocross courses never contain miles of rock-strewn single-track paths zigzagging through trees, over roots and across streams. And you’ll be hard-pressed to find a GNCC course, desert route or enduro course studded with triple jumps. Which is to say, the specific design goals differ radically between a motocrosser and an off-road bike, so if you’re going to build a world-class machine, these particulars must be addressed. Charting the changes Even though the rolling chassis and the engine in the X-model follow the exact same architecture found in the CRF250R, many brand-new elements set the CRF250X apart—changes that make it uniquely equipped to fulfill its specific target function. The list of major changes includes:A new camshaft for a wider powerband and increased torqueWide-ratio gearbox for more versatility in varying terrainAdded flywheel weight for more tractable power deliveryNew exhaust system, complete with spark arrestorLarger fuel tank for greater rangeElectric starter, battery and ACG—plus a backup kickstarterNew frame tuned specifically for off-road work, not motocross tracksMore compliant suspension components front and rear for a plush ride over rocks and rootsRevised linkage ratios for the Pro-Link rear suspension systemAn 18-inch rear wheel and tire for added flat-tire resistanceA new lightweight slim-line headlight, plus a trick LED taillightStandard-issue sidestandCalifornia model meets Green Sticker eligibility requirements Read entire introductory release here: https://hondanews.com/releases/crf250x-development?l=en-US&mode=print
