Here's More About It:
Relisted due to non-paying bidder. GrrrrThe 1971 Firebird Scrambler is one of the most desirable BSAs owing to the high-mounted pipes and its scarcity- only 412 were made. I bought this one three years ago. Previous owner had bought it as a stripped-down dirt bike to use on his farm. It had no lights, instruments, or front fender and it had knobby tires. I sourced the instruments, fender, and the correct headlight (shown with other parts in pics). I mounted new Dunlop K70 tires on the alloy rims. Fortunately, the original high exhaust system was still on the bike! impossible to find originals and repros do not fit. The frame has the original light gray paint that was unpopular at the time but is now cool. The bike starts easily and runs great. The clutch works fine and it shifts well through all of the gears. Previous owner had the engine rebuilt by Countryside Cycles in Florida- they are known for their expertise with British bikes. I have changed the oil twice and changed the oil filter (yes! it has a cool aftermarket one that uses a Trident cartridge) and air filters. It has a Boyer electronic ignition and modern reg/rec. I have video of it running: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3HXouYvbQHo. This bike has been fun for me, but I need to sell it on to make space for other projects. I have enjoyed riding it in the daytime with my friends. I ride it as is with only an on-off switch and have not bothered to wire the lights. I have yet to buy a tach cable and the mileage is unknown since it has a replacement speedometer. The speedometer does work. The frame number is A65FSEE05850 and the title says it is a 1972, but it is obviously not- the EE in the number means it was made in May of 1971. Buyer is responsible for shipping, I will assist your shipper. No warranty. You do understand- it is a 48 year-old British bike! On Aug-05-19 at 03:17:06 PDT, seller added the following information: The engine number is A65SFEE00143.
