Here's More About It:
1967 Rickman Metisse Triumph T100C 500cc Desert Sled/Motocross/Scrambler. I always wanted one of these and suddenly I have two of them. The other is a 650 apart in the shop so this one is available. It is well known that this was Steve McQueens' favorite bike and they are now being built again in the UK starting at $30k with a long waiting list. Here is a chance to own a very nice, clean original. It is titled as a 67 Triumph with the vin number matching the Triumph engine number as was standard practice. Back in the day Rickman would build you a chassis and you had to supply your engine of choice. This one has been nicely converted to street legal(sort of) status with electronic ignition and a charging system that requires no battery as was the case with the original T100C Jack Pine Enduro. This bike is very, very nice with all original chassis-chrome moly steel brazed and nickle plated. Tank has a sealer added and is currently dry after winter storage. Wheels are very nice chrome and tires are new. Seat has a few small tears, fiberglass is excellent considering the age, this bike had an easy life. Wiring is well done with a keyed ignition added along with lights, switches and horn. To be upfront I have never tried the lights or horn and have only heard the bike run once. It seems to run quite well, has four good gears/clutch and the brakes work as intended. In truth to quote Toby Keith "I'm not as good as I once was" and my youth damaged leg can no longer start these things but I can push a start button. The cylinder head has a few broken fins and there is an extra head included which looks very nice along with some of the gaskets needed for replacement(no head gasket). Also included will be the original handle bars, original exhaust, extra sprocket and a few other odds and ends. This bike has a current, clear and open NYS transferable registration/title with as previously mentioned the vin number on the title clearly matching the engine number. There is a number on the frame headstock 1160 but my research says that is simply a part number for the frame itself. As always absolutely no test pilots. You may wonder why this bike is being relisted after having been sold a few weeks ago. The answer is simple, the buyer who has paid for the bike but has not yet had it shipped to his home in CA has just made the decision to move to their summer home in Idaho permanently and will be disposing of the CA property. Since the Idaho location currently has no facilities to store the machines he has much less the ones that haven't been delivered yet he has asked me to try to resell the machine for him. The paperwork has not changed so there is no problem with that, it is still on the original NYS transferable registration/title. Thanks
